Headline News

PPS will be 100% remote (grades 7-12)  for our last two school days of 2020, this Monday and Tuesday. The current plan is to return to the typical hybrid schedule when we return in the New Year, Monday, January 4th. In case you have not seen it already, you can read additional details and the rationale in Supt Botana’s letter from Friday: Full District Update. This letter also includes important updates on the Metro, travel guidelines and wellness resources for students.

The 9th and 10th grade culminations planned for Monday (at 11am for grade 9 - Parents Welcome!) and on Tuesday (at 12:30 for grade 10) are still on! Good luck 9th and 10th grades! And the senior expedition proposal deadlines and junior research expectations also remain in effect. All grades will largely follow their typical schedule - leading up to our Winter Solstice assembly from 2:30-3:30 on Tuesday.

Final fall trimester grades (post Frost School) may now be viewed on Infinite Campus.

Winter Athletes: Cumberland County has been designated as "yellow" in the Maine Department of Education (DOE) latest color-coded relative risk of COVID-19 transmission update. Schools in regions that are assigned a "yellow" or "red" rating may not conduct in-person after school practices, competitions or cocurricular activities until such time when the area is issued a "green" designation. Given this news, Portland Public School’s Winter Athletic teams will discontinue practicing and all skills and drills sessions at this time. The date of the next "traffic light" announcement from the Maine DOE will be December 31, 2020.

Tonight’s Parent University (12/21) at 5:30 is to learn about PATHS! Interpreters will be available at the event. FMI here
