2)Arts and Music Fest
The CBHS/PATHs Art & Music Fest is in less than 2 weeks,  Saturday, November 16th from 10-2pm!  We will be having the world’s largest cookie walk, live, continuous entertainment, one-of-a-kind shopping and art, a basket raffle, CBHS swag, an ornament silent auction, coffee, pizza, nachos, and more!

Here is how you can participate:

1) We are accepting ARTISTS for the event.
2) Calling all artists, crafters and creative thinkers!  The Casco Bay/PATHS Arts & Music Fest  needs you to design an ornament for our ornament raffle.  Thanks again to all of the great local artists who've donated in the past! Ornaments do not have to be holiday themed -- think of them as miniature pieces of art.  All money raised supports our students.  Stop in the art room (Germany/212) at Casco Bay to pick up a blank wooden ornament to get started. Contact Peg Richard (
And please feel free to pass this on to other artist friends who might be interested.

3) If you would like to VOLUNTEER at the event or donate items such as food for the LUNCH TABLE, cookies for the COOKIE WALK, homemade ornaments for the SILENT AUCTION, please sign up here – Art & Music Fest 2019 sign up sheet (once here please click on the top of the page that reads; OPEN IN GOOGLE SHEETS in order to add your name!)

4) The BASKET RAFFLE was a huge success last year and we are excited to have it again this year.  If you are interested in donating a basket please see the attached form and email Julie Cunningham at

Students not in a classroom at that time are asked to take refuge in the nearest classroom, office or other room. The teacher will secure the room and students will be directed to sit quietly on the floor away from windows and doors until an all clear signal.

Juniors and Seniors: King MS is looking for a few CBHS students to be interviewed about their values and their origins as part of their expedition: Through Our Eyes.  The guiding questions are:

- What are my values and where do they come from?

- How do our core values connect us to others?

The interviews  will take place on Wednesday, November 13 from 8:30-9:30 at King. See Mr. Pierce if you are interested.

National Honor Society students, please let Ms. Randall know what volunteer activities you are involved in this semester. You can find her in the library every afternoon or send an email -

Policy on Dropping a Course

After the first few days of school, any student wishing a schedule change must complete a schedule change request form. This form requires a brief rationale as well as supporting signatures from the impacted teachers, the crew advisor and a parent/guardian. Courses that are dropped before the midpoint of a trimester will not show up on a student’s transcript. (In the fall and spring, midpoints are aligned with when grades close for progress reports. In the winter, the midpoint is when DHS second semester courses begin.) Courses dropped after the midpoint (eg: now), but before all trimester standards are met, will appear on a student’s trimester report card and permanent transcript with a grade.

Civic Accountability Reminder of the Week: Handbook Excerpt

Personal Electronics

Managing the use of cell phones, smart phones and other personal electronic devices is a part of communicating effectively. Strive to be present and attentive to other members in the community and to recognize the impact personal technology can have on your connections to your community. Note: During the school day, school phones will be available for student use on a limited basis (e.g., for emergencies, not for social calls).

Cell Phones (including Smart Phones)

·      Cells phones may be used before school, between classes, during lunch, after school, but, otherwise only with explicit teacher permission.

·      Cell phone ringers must be off during the school day.

·      A cell phone should not even be visible during ANY instructional time. This includes crew, academic support, field work and team support time - without explicit teacher permission first.

Consequences: If a personal electronic device is used inappropriately:

First offense: The device will be confiscated until the end of the day (or given to Mr. Pierce or Shibles).

Second offense: The device will be confiscated and returned to family/guardian or upon communication with family/guardian.

Tuesday Focus Groups

As part of our work to narrow the opportunity gap and improve our equity literacy, our staff is ever eager to learn more about the lives our students lead, in our school and in our community. Faculty believe that the better we know and understand you, the better we can support you in maximum learning as a scholar and human. Last year, the Student Union held a fishbowl with students talking about how they experience school with faculty. This summer, Steve Wessler, a local civil rights expert,, approached us about being a part of his Community Conversations Maine project, and it seemed like a good fit. He will be leading focus groups about bias and harassment that our students may be experiencing in our school and/or in our community. How safe and welcome do you feel in our school? In our community? What is the school doing to help students to feel safe and welcome? What could we do better? Each group will last about an hour. Some sessions will be open to any student and some will be focused on the experiences of particular students (eg: African-American male or Muslim-American females). See Mr. Shibles TODAY if you are interested in being a part of the focus group tomorrow. There are a few spots left.
