Junior Journey is hosting a fundraiser at Otto's this Tuesday night.
CBHS Musical:  Heathers - this Fri. (7pm) and Sat. (2 and 7pm) at PHS Ford Theater. (Thank you PHS!). This is the "high school edition" of the edgy show, but it's not recommended for children. Join us after the Sat. matinee for a discussion about the hard issues raised about US culture by the show.
CBHS Arts & Music Fest - Help Needed (and Lots of It)
The CBHS/PATHs Art & Music Fest is on Saturday, November 17th!  We will be having the world’s largest cookie walk, live, continuous entertainment, one-of-a-kind shopping and art, a basket raffle, an ornament silent auction, and a burrito bar!  There will also be a blood drive during the event.
Here is how you can participate:
1) Only 3 weeks left until the Fabulous Cookie Walk! Please plan on baking. Share your family’s favorite cookies.  Contact Laura Cianchette at  lcianchette@gwi.net for more information.
2) Calling all artists, crafters and creative thinkers!  The Casco Bay Arts, Crafts and Music fair needs you to design an ornament for our ornament raffle.  Ornaments do not have to be holiday themed -- think of them as a miniature piece of art.  All money raised supports our school and students.  Contact Peg Richard (richape@portlandschools.org) if you would like to contribute an
ornament to the raffle.

3) We are accepting ARTISTS and CRAFTERS for the event . Contact Derek Pierce FMI.

4) If you would like to VOLUNTEER at the event or donate food for the BURRITO BAR or COOKIE WALK, please sign up here -  Art & Music Fest 2018 sign-up sheet

5) The BASKET RAFFLE was a huge success last year and we are excited to have it again this year. Contact Julie at  juliehahn22@gmail.com or 650-7291 to contribute

6) A flyer for the event is attached – please share with friends, family, and coworkers!

Help is needed to sell tickets and run concessions at the performances of Heathers this weekend. See Evie Ford or Mr Hale if you are interested.

Juniors and seniors: Interested in USM? “Experience USM” events at the University of Southern Maine (USM) give students and their families the opportunity to immerse themselves in an area of study (or two!) of their choosing. Meet University faculty, sit in on a class, tour our campus and research facilities, and get a firsthand impression of our community and culture. For Fall 2018, each academic department participating in Experience USM has curated a special experience that works best when accompanied by a general information session and campus tour. See Ms. Doyle for more information

Family Handbook: Reminder of the Week: Respect for Individuals (p58): “Harassment is conduct or speech which is unwelcome, intimidating, derogatory, hostile and/or offensive, and which unreasonably interferes with a student’s ability to learn or a staff member’s ability to work.... Any student who believes that he/she or another student has been harassed is encouraged to bring this to the attention of a teacher or administrator. The policy and complaint procedure can be accessed here: http://www2.portlandschools.org/school-board. Bullying, cyber-bullying, and hazing are forms of harassment. Harassment may be student-to-student, staff-to-student, student-to-staff, or staff-to- staff. Harassment may be offensive to a person for variety of reasons, including his or her gender, race, ethnic background, religion, age, sexual orientation, ability, or disability.” Thanks to everyone who works towards a goal of a kind, welcoming and harassment-free school.

Student Chefs: Only 3 weeks left until the Fabulous Cookie Walk! Please plan on baking. Share your family’s favorite cookies.  Contact Laura Cianchette at lcianchette@gwi.net for more information.

Juniors and Seniors: King MS is looking for 3 CBHS student leaders who would be willing to help the King 6th Grade learn about leadership as part of a new expedition called, “Words to Lead By.” CBHS student leaders would be interviewed in small groups next week November 7 from 9-10 am. See Mr. Pierce FMI.

Cabinet Update: The feedback from crews about the proposal to shift Cabinet terms to 1 year was mixed, but largely in favor of the proposed changes. After deliberations, the Cabinet on Friday approved the proposal (for 1 year terms) with an amendment allowing for an overlap of returning Cabinet members and new Cabinet members as needed each fall to ensure a smooth transition. Also, all Cabinet members may run for re-election.

If you need your flu shot, please see Ms. Bell for a form. If your parents completed a form and it's in your backpack, please dig it out and bring it to Ms. Bell. :)

Are you a singer, musician, performer or artist? Then we need you to share your talent at the 2nd annual CBHS-PATHS Arts & Music Fest - Saturday, November 17th (10am to 2pm). See Zach Hager to sign up or sign up on the sign up board. We are also seeking students artists and crafters who would like to sell and display their wares during the event.
