Progress reports were
mailed home on Friday and are now viewable online. Students with one or
more “2”s on their progress report may be required to stay for Block 7
this week.

Wednesday is an 11:05 dismissal day for staff development. PATHS students will be dismissed at the regular time.

Sophomores will be engaged in field work at UNUM on Friday.

Friday is the
Halloween Dance – 7:30-10:30. We could use a few parent chaperones for
some or all of the time. If you are interested, please contact Stewart

District Newsletter: We are starting a new bi- annual e-Newsletter for
families and community members. This document is meant to be community
facing and will highlight Portland Public Schools’ points of pride and
contain such things as school initiatives and news, school employees’
outstanding efforts and awards and upcoming events. To subscribe to the

This month’s Hannaford Card orders are due this Tuesday, Oct 21.
They can issue cards from $25 to $500, in increments of $25. Hannaford
donates 5% of the total order to CBHS for Project Graduation. Please

Casco Bay Parents, we need your help! The Craft Fair,
held on Saturday, November 22 from 9 to 3, is a day of fun for the CBHS
and greater Portland community. It takes a village to throw open the
school for this craft party, and we need you to help however you can.

Bus Driver Appreciation Week: Be sure to celebrate and thank your driver!
Calling
all young women with a passion for gender equity and social justice! The
Global Girls Group is a gathering of young women who are dedicated to
ending violence and oppression of women across the globe and are
passionate about educating their school and communities about how to
create change that is effective and lasting. We will be having our first
meeting on Wednesday at 11:20 in Japan. You can bring your lunch.
Meetings will take place each Wednesday. See Lona or Ms. Haar if you are
interested to learn more.
Tickets
to the Halloween Dance will be sold in the Great Space Monday-Friday
from 7:15-7:45, and Lunch on Tuesday-Friday. One guest is allowed per
student. Students who wish to invite guests must buy tickets by
Wednesday at Lunch in order for them to be approved by their schools.
Guests will not be admitted at the door if they are not pre-approved.
Tickets are $6 before the event and $8 at the door. Exact change is appreciated. Proceeds benefit the Africa Rising expedition.
CBHS Theater Update: We
have a new musical theater director; please welcome Lisa Boucher
Hartman. Ms. Boucher Hartman is an accomplished dancer and performer who
has taught acting at SMCC for several years. She has also directed at
South Portland’s STAGEs. Our musical will be in the spring this year
(the weekend of May 9th or 16th).
Ms. Driscoll will be directing a play for CBHS this winter (and
performing at Portland Stage this spring in Monica Wood’s new play).
All: Start signing up for fall conferences – November 12th and 13th.
Faculty
will be meeting to discuss the slate of Winter Intensives this Week.
Students with intensive proposals should Mr. Shibles or Mr. Donaldson
before then.
We will once again have the Portland Pirates intensive. (This time in Portland!). CBHS nights will January 23rd,
and this year for the first time, a CBHS students (or students) will be
able to sing the National Anthem before the game. See Mr. Pierce if you
are interested in learning more.
Seniors: Be sure to check Naviance at least 1x a week
Seniors: OCTOBER 24th –
Students applying Early Action/Early Decision: packets must be given to
your guidance counselor and two other recommenders. Packets include:
Cover Letter, Resume and Draft of College Essay
Seniors: By OCTOBER 24th: ALL students–ask your recommender face-to-face. By November 7th. Recommender packets should be given to your guidance counselor and two other recommenders.
Tuesday:
About 60 educators from around the country will be visiting us on
Tuesday. Please welcome them to our classroom and answer their
questions. Upperclassmen with open blocks 1, 2 or 3 are needed for
various duties for parts of each block. See Mr. Pierce ASAP if you can
help out. The library will be closed tomorrow to host the visitors –
except during Acad.

Dismissal Day for staff development. Students who attend PM PATHS are
required to attend as usual. Students who ride the bus to Portland or
Deering should stay clear of these campuses until the 1:05 dismissal.

students who would like to write or contribute ideas to the one act
play for this year, please meet for lunch and cupcakes on Thursday in
the art room.
