Help Needed
This
year Casco Bay has a great opportunity to spend January 15th from 8-5
at The University of Maine Orono and tour the Engineering Program. We
are looking for 3-4 parents/chaperones who would be willing to accompany
the students on the trip. There will be three Casco Bay staff members
attending, but we are seeking a few more adults to help. If you are
interested or have any questions, please contact Stephanie Doyle at

Select Student Announcements
All students involved in the Structural Engineering Intensive need to bring their iPads each day.
Student Ambassadors for Visiting 8th Graders:
Two of the visit days are next week (Tuesday and Thursday): We will
meet during TST next Monday in the Great Space to review
responsibilities.
9-12 Student Pulse Team:
We are looking for one representative per crew to be a part of an
ongoing student team that will meet periodically with a professional
facilitator in the 2nd half of the year (3 or 4 times) during
acad to provide input about how the year is going: what’s working,
what’s not and suggestions for improvement. This input will be shared
with faculty leadership as part of our school improvement process. The
first meeting will be January 20th. Advisors: once your rep is chosen, add their name to the google doc, “Days of Cougar and Student Pulse Team.”
Juniors and Seniors Who Took a College Course Last Semester:
Please make sure to submit some official documentation of the grade
(eg: screen shot from SMCC student portal) to the guidance office in
order to earn CBHS credit and have the course added to your transcript.
Juniors and Seniors Who Want to take a College Course This Semester:
Make sure your paperwork is complete ASAP. See Mr Hale or Ms. Doyle
FMI. Classes begin next week at both USM and SMCC. The SMCC
International Relations and Sociology courses will begin a week from
Wednesday, 1/14.
Seniors Involved in Grad Camp:
If you are planning to turn in Trimester 1 work on January 5th, but NOT
attend grad camp, you should deliver it to either Ms. Babcock or Ms.
Cameron in Germany or directly to your teacher. Work will not be graded
until after intensives. If you haven’t met standards, you will have to
attend mud school.
9th and 10th graders: Applications for next summer’s Maine Seeds of Peace are now available. They are due January 18. See Mr. Murray FMI or Sophomores and juniors: We will likely be sharing PSAT reports with students during the first Wednesday crew after Intensives Week – January 14th.
17 and 18 years olds: PPS is
looking for adults 17 and older interested in working with small groups
of students to support ELL students in meeting reading and math
proficiency goals after school at Presumpscot School.
We are looking for Student Engagement Specialists to work 300 hours
between now and August 2015. In exchange for the work hours, AmeriCorps
members will receive an $1195 education award. Please contact Maureen
Clancy, School Improvement Grants Coordinator at 842-4667 or clancm@portlandschools.org.
