We look forward to seeing you all at conferences this Wednesday and Thursday. Check in with your child's crew advisor with any questions. As a reminder, after your student's present, parents will have an opportunity to discuss a "crucial question" with their child and advisor.  If possible, submit your "crucial question" to be discussed at the conference here by 2pm tomorrow (Tuesday the 6th).  
Congrats to the cast and crew of Heathers for their amazing and powerful production this past weekend.

The tryouts for winter sports are 11/19 and 11/20. Students must be meeting standards in at least five courses to be academically eligible. CBHS Arts & Music Fest - Help Needed (and Lots of It)
The CBHS/PATHs Art & Music Fest is less than 2 weeks away,  Saturday, November 17th!  We will be having the world’s largest cookie walk, live, continuous entertainment, one-of-a-kind shopping and art, a basket raffle, an ornament silent auction, and a burrito bar!  There will also be a blood drive during the event.  
Here is how you can participate:
1) Less than 2 weeks left until the Fabulous Cookie Walk! Please plan on baking. Share your family’s favorite cookies.  Contact Laura Cianchette at  lcianchette@gwi.net for more information.
2) Calling all artists, crafters and creative thinkers!  The Casco Bay Arts, Crafts and Music fair needs you to design an ornament for our ornament raffle.  Contact Peg Richard (richape@portlandschools.org) if you would like to contribute an
ornament to the raffle.

3) We are accepting ARTISTS and CRAFTERS for the event – the application to have a table at the event is attached  

4) If you would like to VOLUNTEER at the event or donate food for the BURRITO BAR or COOKIE WALK, please sign up here -  Art & Music Fest 2018 sign-up sheet

5) The BASKET RAFFLE was a huge success last year and we are excited to have it again this year. Contact Julie at  juliehahn22@gmail.com or 650-7291 to contribute

There will be discussion with members of the cast  during lunch today in Ms. Hampton’s crew space (3rd floor, off main office) for anyone interested in talking more about the show. If anyone would like to further process issues raised for them by the show, Ms. Furman and Mr. Hale are available.

Congrats to the Model UN delegation for an awesome performance at the Phillips Exeter Academy Conference on Sunday. Special kudos to Annie Dodson and Isaac Tabb for receiving special commendations for their participation.

Yoon Byun’s photo exhibit “95% Maine” is now viewable around campus. Please view, read and learn - but do not touch.  Thanks.

Staggered Lunch Start
As noted at school meeting, Cabinet and the Leadership Team approved a five minute staggered start for lunch to reduce crowding. Students from other grades will not be released early for lunch (excluding PATHS students) except as designated below. Staff: please your cell phone or computer to be aware of precise times on the early release day. The early release is only for classes that are predominantly or exclusively one grade level (eg: Physics (10), Senior Crew (12), but not BK 2 or BK 5 classes that are largely multiple grades (eg: AP US History and Spanish 2). When in doubt, it’s the teacher’s call.

As we approach another Veteran’s Day (next Monday), let’s take a moment to recognize “Blue Star” and “Gold Star” military families and thank them for their sacrifice and generosity.   Blue star families have earned a blue star for each family member serving in the US armed forces during any period of war or hostilities. A gold star (with a blue edge) represents a family member that died during military operations.

Crew – Elections for CBHS School Board Rep - and the statewide ballot questions - will take place today. Completed ballots should be turned into to your grade level crew rep or Mr. Pierce. Results will be shared at School Meeting.


Literary Magazine will meet in the library at lunch time today, Monday the 5th. All are welcome!!TST

Seniors, today's Team Support is required, but flexible.  You have 3 rooms to choose from:

Russia:  Hot Seat with Haar, Pierce, Nichols

Dominican Republic: Study Hall with Doane

Library: Video conference with Robinson and 2 young entrepreneurs: Ashoka Changemakers Winners: Hannah and Charlie Lucas of NotOK

You could spend a semester of your sophomore or junior year exploring Patagonia, Chile and kayaking down Idahoan rivers all while receiving full academic credit. Alzar School is a semester leadership school for highly motivated sophomores and juniors intergrating academics, cultural exchange and outdoor adventure. Bring your friends and speak with an Alzar School admissions representative Jami on November 6th @ 9:30 outside Mr. Shible's office. See Ms Doyle for more information

Are you a singer, musician, performer or artist? Then we need you to share your talent at the 2nd annual CBHS-PATHS Arts & Music Fest - Saturday, November 17th (10am to 2pm). See Zach Hager to sign up or sign up on the sign up board. We are also seeking students artists and crafters who would like to sell and display their wares during the event. See Margarida Celestino to reserve a table.


If you need your flu shot, please see Ms. Bell for a form. If your parents completed a form and it's in your backpack, please dig it out and bring it to Ms. Bell. :)

There is going to be a Blood Drive on Sat. Nov. 17th, the same day as the CBHS/PATHS Arts and Music Fest.  The Red Cross Bus will be parked in our parking lot from 9-2pm. If you are 16, you will need your parent's permission to donate.  If you are older than 16 and wish to donate, please see Ms. Bell for instructions on how to register. She will also check to see if you are eligible to do so.  Please encourage your parents to donate, too!! We want to fill up all the slots and make it a successful blood drive!!

Community Opportunities

Girl Singers of Maine is a new choral program at the Portland Conservatory of Music. We offer expert choral instruction to young women in grades 5 through 12 in two separate choirs, including Iris Ensemble for young women in grades 9-12. Auditions are taking place November 15-17.
