Help Needed: I am looking for another half-dozen parents who can help out with our 8th Grade Family Night this Thursday, December 7th, from 7:00-8:30. (The event starts at 6:30.) The prime responsibility would be to offer parent perspectives during teacher-facilitated Q and A with prospective families (in classroom-sized groups). Please e-mail me if you are interested or FMI. Some more details are attached.

The Citrus is coming! Did you order any fruit to support Project Grad? The fruit will be delivered at CBHS at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, December 5, and we are planning to distribute it from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.that day.  We will be on the 2nd floor, across from the elevator, near the art storage room.

If any fruit is unclaimed, I will take it back to my house, 57 Allison Ave., not far from CBHS, and you can make arrangements for a later pickup. We also have nine gift boxes for sale at $20 each, three of navel oranges and marmalade, four of navel oranges, apples, and pears, and two of tangelos and mandarins. Thanks again for participating in this fundraiser for Project Graduation!

Happy holidays,

Thanks to everyone who has already signed up to be a Student Ambassador for 8th grade Family Night this Thursday (6:30-8:30). We need about 8 per grade, so we are all set with freshmen, but we still could use more sophomores, juniors and seniors. Sign up at the Sign Up Board.

Ambassadors should be present by 6:10pm on the 7th. There will be a brief ambassador training TODAY Monday, December 4th during lunch in the Great Space. Ambassadors will welcome and direct 8th grade families, tour groups of students and help answer questions during discussion group Q & A. Student Language Ambassadors are also needed that evening. See Mr. Pierce FMI

Crews: We have another slew of visitors this week, this time prospective future classmates and their families. Please do so some tidying of your Crew Space before Thursday night. Leave no trace. Thanks.

Are you interested in international travel and cultural exchange? Consider being a host family for a Japanese exchange student this summer. Portland schools are continuing their decades' old partnership with our sister city of Shinagawa, and will host a few Japanese students for two weeks this summer. In two years, we will send a group of students to Japan to stay with our host friends. See Ms. Haar if you are interested to learn more.

Want to change your xBlock? Go to the CBHS website and click on the "For Students" tab. On the drop-down list you can click on "xBlock." There you'll see a form you can use to request an xBlock. You must submit your requests by Tuesday afternoon. If you forget to submit a request, you'll have to attend your current xBlock."

Students who are interested in participating in the Center for Grieving Children's Multicultural Group on Friday afternoons MUST turn in permission slips to Ms. Babcock this week in order to start participating on Friday.  Ms. Babcock has more permission slips if you need them.

Seniors: Ms. Hampton will provide college application support Mondays during BK 7 and during “Holding Hands with Hampton” each Wednesday. Get One Done by December 11th  - a week from today.

Reminder: Attention Juniors and Seniors - Spring course registration for USM and SMCC courses has begun! SMCC will be offering a Introduction to Psychology Course and an Introduction to Acting Course at CBHS starting in January. Applications are on the college's websites, or in the counseling office for pick up.
