Priya Natarajan - Principal

Priya is honored and thrilled to serve as the second Principal of CBHS after one year of being its first Assistant Principal.  She also served the district for two years as the district’s high school math instructional coach, working to advance school success plans and support teachers across the district.  She joined the Portland Public Schools in 2002, first working at Deering High School before becoming a math teacher at Casco Bay High School. She has also served as an adjunct lecturer at the University of Southern Maine and Eastern Maine Community College. Prior to her work at PPS, Priya was a founding teacher at the Boston Arts Academy in the Boston Public Schools for four years.  She won the 2017 Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching in the mathematics category and has been active in state and local efforts to recruit and retain teachers and is passionate about celebrating the teaching profession and making it a more sustainable, joyous and rewarding career pathway.


Alberto Morales - Assistant Principal

Alberto Morales, Assistant Principal at Casco Bay High School, has been a public school teacher for 25 years, with two decades in the Portland Public Schools. Most recently, he served as Dean for Students and Student Life at CBHS, and Assistant Principal at Portland High School. He spent 11 years teaching English at Casco Bay High School and previously taught English and Spanish at Deering High School for seven years, as well as Spanish at several other Portland elementary schools for two years. Alberto has been deeply involved in equity efforts within the district, teaching the Race in the United States class for teachers and administrators, participating in the Equity Cohort, and contributing to the Educators of Color Insights Report. He has also been active in recruiting teachers of color. For the past 18 years, he has coached high school Ultimate Frisbee, leading the Portland team, Forest City, to a State Championship recently. Alberto earned a bachelor's degree in English and education from Boston College and is currently in the leadership cohort at the University of Southern Maine. He mentors in-service teachers from both USM and Bowdoin. His goal is to preserve and deepen Casco Bay High School’s traditions, academic excellence, and extracurricular programs while supporting each student's unique path to success. In his free time, Alberto enjoys playing Ultimate Frisbee and basketball, taking guitar lessons, spending time with his family, and reading comic books. He has lived in South Portland with his wife and three children for the past 20 years and is a native New Yorker.
