CBHS Parent Newsflash 4-3-17
Thanks to Jen Tabb, Kelly Christie, Vic Serio and all of the parents, math faculty, mathletes and corporate sponsors who contributed to the success of last Thursday’s Math Cup. UNE just edged out Kepware and a team of our seniors to claim the Cup. And we raised $4000 for CBHS STEM.
Monday will be a walls down day for Sophomores (except for crew). Juniors will be taking the MHSA Science Test till 10am.
Gelato Fiasco Project Grad Fundraiser: Today!
DATE: Monday, April 3rd, 2017 from Noon to 11pm
LOCATION: The Gelato Fiasco, 425 Fore Street, Portland
All you have to do is show them the attached flyer OR tell them you are with Casco Bay so that 100% of the proceeds go to Casco Bay for Project Grad.
There is a public hearing on the School Budget at 6pm Tuesday night at City Hall. The Board will also be considering whether to include the CBHS “Greater Great Space” in next year’s CIP plans.
Because of the School Board meeting, our next PAG meeting has been postponed until Tuesday 4/25 at 5:30; it will still focus on CBHS-parent communications, as well as a budget update, teacher appreciations, the Spring Plant sale and senior scholarships. All are welcome
Senior Parents: Financial Aid guru Bill Smith will be hosting a meeting this Tuesday night in the Great Space - from 7 to 8pm - to help parents make sense of financial aid award letters.
Junior Parents: We are seeking donations of healthy breakfast foods to help our juniors do their best on the SATs THIS Wednesday, April 5th. We could also use a few volunteers to help with breakfast set up, distribution and clean up any time between 7:20-8:20.

Upcoming: Saturday, April 29th 5:45 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Project Graduation Fundraiser for Class of 2017 Casco Bay High School. Paint Nite Painting Event. You'll spend 1.5 hrs creating a one of a kind painting. Local artist Paul Cyr will guide you in creating your masterpiece. All supplies will be provided. Come and have some fun with friends and neighbors and support a Portland Public School.
$30 per person. (30% of pp. cost will go directly to the class of 2017). Event will be held in the cafeteria at DHS (located over the gymnasium). Cabinet Bulletin 4-3-17 – A Day
Congrats to all of our mathletes for an epic performance in last Thursday’s Math Cup, including the Class of 2017 team (Lucy, Nat, Jane and Grace) which finished in the top 3. Good luck to all of our mathletes competing in the state meet tomorrow.
Good luck to juniors in their state testing this week, science today and the SAT’s on Wednesday.
Sign up for the Outing Club's Hike or Bike Overnight coming up April 29th-30th at Bradbury Mountain State Park on the sign up board in the great space. You don't want to miss this opportunity to try out some mountain biking and refine your camping skills. The event starts at 10am in Freeport on Saturday and ends 10am on Sunday.
Sophomores and juniors: If you are hoping to take a PATHS course next year and you already visited it, please go to Mr. Hale's office and confirm you do or do not want to take the course. A confirmation list is posted outside Mr. Hale's door. There will soon be waiting lists for many PATHS classes so please confirm ASAP.
Team 9 will be in assigned ACAD rooms during TST Monday to continue viewing the Cancer Documentary and their group discussion.
Juniors will be reviewing some final test-taking strategies for the SAT today. Non-PATHS juniors will do this during TST and PATHS juniors will do this post-PATHS at 2pm in the Wellness Room.

Juniors will be taking the SAT’s on Wednesday on the 3rd floor. Please support our test-takers by being silent while in the vicinity between classes.

Deering School has kindly invited students and staff in our community to a meeting with Stephen Schwartz, the US Ambassador to Somalia, at Deering High School this Wednesday, April 5, 4:30-5:30 pm in the Deering theater. Two Deering students will be the moderators.
Crew Advisors: The deadline for crew pages is this Thursday April 6th. Senior Crews get a two page spread and everyone else gets one page. See Mr. Nichols FMI.
