Annual Appeal – Final Update – From Susan Webster, Annual Appeal Chair
The 3rd Annual Appeal Fundraising Campaign is posting its final update for the 2011-2012 year. There is no doubt we raised the moolah!! We are very happy to announce that this year’s fundraising campaign, generously supported by CBHS families and our extended community, has raised nearly $19,000 so far – which is very very close to our goal of $20,000. Wahoo!!!
Thank you to the families in our CBHS community for your generous support. This campaign funded some really important school purchases: Winter and Spring Intensives, a new Mac, and, last but not least, the much needed basketball hoop (ready for next fall).
The new Casco Bay H.S. bumper stickers are still available – Don’t drive or bike without one!! Email sjw@smemaine.com for more information.
A belated thanks to Bob Cave and Abby Snyder for their help with the grad reception
Help Wanted:
Cardboard Boat Race: Latex Paint Needed: As usual we hope to paint the cardboard boats with the usual flair of household leftovers. If you have latex (only) paint to donate please drop it by Tuesday at 11am. Thanks to those who have already done so.
Select Student Announcements
Summer Reading for rising 9th graders and Casco Bay Quest forms (for rising freshmen and seniors) are both now on the website (in the “Academics” section).
Take advantage of remaining time in these last days to meet and exceeds standards. Go for it.
Cabinet Update: Thanks for all of the crew feedback about how to address our culture of (excessive) sharing. Cabinet reviewed the ideas and will be launching both an awareness campaign and a student project zone to help address the problem. More details in the fall.
Lost and Found will be donated to Good Will after this week. Be sure to claim any of your items before leaving for summer.
Search your homes for any school property to return (library books, school texts, chargers, netbooks, etc.). All school property that was issued to you must be returned or paid for. The cost for replacing a charger is $49, FYI. Students will be re-issued netbooks for CBHS summer school.
All students should make sure they are clear about summer reading assignments by Wednesday. Check with your Humanities teachers for details. Details will also be available on the website under “academics” over the summer. During the month of July, CBHS will be hosting a summer reading group. All students are encouraged to participate to complete their summer reading in a fun and supportive setting. See Ms. Hicks for additional information.
Earn math credit and do some important research that will further improve our math program.
Please see Mr. Pierce for additional information. First come, first served.
New Courses Next Fall: Mr. Donaldson will teach one section of (non-AP) Environmental Science for juniors and seniors next year. If you are interested, please let Mr. Hale know. We will be also offering two new SMCC courses next fall (after school on Wednesdays, on campus) – International Relations and College Algebra. See Mr. Hale or Mr. Pierce, FMI.
All sophomores and juniors planning to take a college course next fall. Make sure you have completed the requisite paperwork from SMCC or USM. See Mr. Hale. Ms. Doyle or Mr. Pierce with any questions.
