Headlines:
Thanks so much to all of the parents who came out to last week’s New Student Orientation and Family Crew Night! A special thanks to all who were able to contribute to the yummy dinner.
Senior Final words will finish up this Tuesday and Wednesday in our Great Space, from about 8-9:15am each day. All are welcome!
At the last PAG meeting, we decided to spend a bit more time considering whether or not we should continue doing the Crafts Fair in 2012 – or whether we should consider a new or modified event. There will be a meeting for all parents interested in brainstorming about this from 4:30-5:30 next Monday, June 4th in the CBHS Great Space. If you have ideas or input, but are unable to attend, please e-mail piercd@portlandschools.org

Public Invited to Meet Second Finalist for Superintendent Position
The Portland Board of Public Education invites the public to meet informally with a second finalist for the position of Portland school superintendent.
The finalist will be at three locations on THIS Tuesday, May 29:
- 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.: East End Community School community room, 195 North Street.
- 2 to 3 p.m.: Lyman Moore Middle School library, 171 Auburn Street.
- 5 to 6 p.m.: Casco Bay High School, Room 250, 196 Allen Avenue.

Cow Patty Bingo Winner Announced
A drawing was held at Casco Bay High School Monday 5/21/12 from all the deeds that had been purchased in the Cow Patty Bingo contest. In all a total of $630 was raised towards Project Graduation, with $95 (15% of the total) going to the lucky winner. The winner is George Monaco, father of CBHS Junior Will Monaco. Congratulations George!!

The date of our final PAG meeting of the year has been moved. It will now be from 6 to 7pm or so on Wednesday, June 13th at the Great Lost Bear.We will be reviewing the year, celebrating and looking ahead. We will also begin work on selecting new officers for next year. All are welcome!
June 5th – Senior Celebration
June 6th – Senior Awards Assembly (9-10:30am, families and loved ones welcome) and Sea Dogs Most Improved Student game
June 7th – Graduation – 6pm – Merrill Auditorium. (All are welcome. It’s free, and no tickets are required.)
June 8th – College Pro Day
June 11th/12th – Sophomore Passage
June 11th – Appalachia Unplugged (6pm at SALT)
June 14th – Last Day of Classes
June 15th – Final Assessments Begin (Bks 1 and 2)
Casco Bay Summer School will take place this year from Friday, June 22nd to Thursday, June 28th in Humanities (8-11am) and math and science 11:30-2:30). Portland Public Schools Summer School will run this summer from July 9th-30th at Deering. Offerings will include English 9 – 12, Pre Alg, Algebra, Geometry, Alg II, World Civ, US History, physical science and life science. CBHS Summer School Applications are now available outside Mr. Pierce’s office.

Congrats to the Seniors who have already completed their Final Word. Thanks to all of the students who performed or helped out at last week’s new student orientation or Family Crew Night.
Seniors

Ms. Bell will be giving you your health record soon. This is your record, and includes information you might need after graduation, including immunization and other health information.
- In order to march at graduation on June 7th, eligible seniors must have turned in all work necessary to meet trimester 3 standards in all courses required for graduation by the last day of official classes for seniors, Friday, June 1st.

All students must also participate successfully in marching practice (June 4-7th) in order to participate in graduation ceremonies. You must also return (or pay for) all school property, including library books, netbooks and course texts.

Tuesday
Students Interested in AP English Next Fall: There will be a meeting in the Great Space during the first 20 minutes of Academic Support today
The Graduation Task Force will meet during Acad in the Great Space at noon. One rep from each crew should attend.
Wednesday: last 1:10 dismissal Wednesday
Note: We will be dismissed on June 6th and the 13th at 2:10pm.
Thursday: Senior A Day Final Assessments/Class
Student Mentors in grades 9-11: Please attend part 2 of the mandatory training session during Acad. Thursday in the library. This meeting should take about 30 minutes. If you cannot attend, but still plan on being a mentor, see Ms. Appelbaum
Steve Wessler, formerly from the Center For Hate Prevention, will be conducting a focus group with some of our students who are refugees. If you are interested in participating, let Mr. Pierce know.
